Results: 04.18.2010 – AV Men’s AA/A Sand Opener

First of all, thanks to everyone coming out to support the Men’s AA/A Sand Opener that was held at the Virginia Highlands. We had a full roster of talented teams with other teams waiting to get in. The weather was perfect and the play was exciting to watch. The teams were divided into two pools of 5 teams each:

Yellow Court:
David Ottmann/Mike Kemerer
RJ Thaxton/Raun Bassett
Kendall Reardon/Inar Treiguts
Howard Miles/Donald Miller
Rudy Abarca/Ken Holcomb

Red Court:
Ryan Hojnacki/Jason Frizzell
Nate Hegwood/Neil Browning
Tim Kreiner/Rich O’Keefe
Johnathon Kendrick/Kevin Harben
David Holcombe/Wynn Vinson

After pool play was over, all team were ranked to start the single elimination format:

1. Kendall Reardon/Inar Treiguts
2. Howard Miles/Donald Miller
3. Nate Hegwood/Neil Browning
4. David Holcombe/Wynn Vinson
5. Ryan Hojnacki/Jason Frizzell
6. David Ottmann/Mike Kemerer
7. Tim Kreiner/Rich O’Keefe
8. RJ Thaxton/Raun Bassett
9. Johnathon Kendrick/Kevin Harben
10. Rudy Abarca/Ken Holcomb

In the end, the two final teams came from the red court – Nate/Neil verses Hoj/Jason. Tough defense from Nate and Neil prevailed in the beginning of the match giving them a 7-0 lead. Hoj and Jason tried to come back with tough serves but the deficit was too much to come back. Congratulations to Nate Hegwood and Neiling Brown…and welcome back.
